What is carbon footprint?
|
Carbon footprint is the total
amount of carbon di-oxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases emitted by
an individual or organization. These are emitted because most of the
energy we use mainly comes from using non-renewable energy sources. For
example,
- A flight from Bangalore to Delhi emits 0.4 tons CO2/passenger
- The average Indian home spends electricity enough to produce 0.75 tons CO2/household
- A car trip from Bangalore to Goa and back will emit 0.2 tons CO2
