The
story of sapgreen.com starts with the time when both founders of the
company worked as software professionals in Bangalore, the garden city
of India. Both are from electronic engineering background from the
prestigious Sri Jayachamrajendra college of Engineering, Mysore.
Bangalore is witness to large scale destruction of greenery ever since the silicon boom. The sight of so many trees being cut made the founders think about the solution towards correcting the situation. The solution was www.sapgreen.com. Here at sapgreen, we believe that environmentalism is not charity but it is an obligation of each person to give back what he takes from the earth. This is why we formed a private limited company to achieve our aims. "sapgreen.com" is one of the objectives of our registered company, "Enlen marketing and renewable energy systems private limited". Enlen stands for ENvironment, Life, ENergy. Since we believe that sustainable development has to include many other aspects of the environment, we also plan to promote renewable sources of energy in the future. Sap Green is a shade of green. It is the color of the leaf and hence aptly describes the objective of the website. The name is written in 2 shades so as to denote a tree. The logo on its left denotes bright energy and life within the confines of the environment. The founder members are AnilKumar, ex-ST Microelectronics and Ashwin Upadhyaya, ex-Robert Bosch India. AnilKumar is head of marketing and Ashwin Upadhyaya is head of operations. Through a planned awareness program, responsible tree-planting and through corporate alliance, we plan to plant 1 crore trees. Our policy is that each tree planted should be beneficial to you, to the environment and to us, both in the short term as well as in the long term. For example, individuals who would want to plant a tree would get a certificate of planting which they can use as a gift on occassions instead of gifting flower bouquets which die in a day or two. We have agreements with Mysore urban development authority now so that we can plant trees in the Mysore city region's parks and streets. We are currently in talks with Bangalore city authorities and also with various other authorities. The aim of these talks and agreements is to ensure that the trees we plant are insured against further development activities. |
